Kiosk mode for player accounts
The client locks the screen on its own, but for a shop you want the player's Windows account locked down too: no desktop, no Task Manager, no way around CafeOS.
Set it up
- Create a standard (non-administrator) Windows account for players, for example
player, and sign in to it once. - Sign in as an administrator and open PowerShell as administrator.
- Run the script that came with the client, from where the client is installed:
& 'C:\Program Files\CafeOS Client\kiosk-policies.ps1' -User player
Add -AutoLogon -Password 'pc-password' to sign the player account in automatically at boot.
What it changes for that account
- CafeOS replaces the Windows desktop.
- Task Manager, Lock, Sign out, Run and the Windows-key shortcuts are disabled.
- USB autorun is turned off.
- After every logout the client closes the player's apps and empties Downloads, Desktop and browser data.
Administrator accounts are untouched, and the script refuses to lock down an administrator.
Undo it
& 'C:\Program Files\CafeOS Client\kiosk-policies.ps1' -User player -Remove
