Install the PC client

Do this on every customer PC.

  1. Download the PC client installer.
  2. Run CafeOS-Client-Setup-x.y.z.exe as an administrator. You can choose any drive on the Choose Install Location page.
  3. The client starts full screen and looks for your server on the network. Pick it from the list, or type its address (for example http://192.168.1.10:8080).
  4. Enter the 6-digit pairing code from the staff app's Stations page.

The PC now shows your lock screen and appears on the Stations page.

Installing on many PCs

For unattended installs, run:

CafeOS-Client-Setup-x.y.z.exe /S /D=D:\CafeOS Client

/D= must come last and has no quotes.

What the installer sets up

  • A watchdog service that restarts the client within two seconds if it's closed.
  • A firewall rule so the PC can hear your server's discovery broadcast.

Getting out on a test PC

The lock screen blocks the usual shortcuts. To stop it on a PC you're testing: press Ctrl+Alt+Del, open Task Manager as an administrator, and run sc.exe stop CafeOS-ClientWatchdog from an elevated prompt before ending client.exe. Uninstalling from Settings → Apps removes everything.
